75-year-old tourist dies in Paphos parking accident

A 75-year-old Scottish tourist, Margery Balfour, died following a fatal accident in a hotel parking lot in Paphos on Friday afternoon. According to police, a 56-year-old driver initially stopped to allow the woman to walk past his vehicle. As she proceeded, she allegedly lost her balance and fell to the ground. The driver, unaware of her fall, resumed movement to exit the parking lot, and the vehicle's wheel struck the woman in the back. Emergency services transported the victim to Paphos General Hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries during surgery. The driver was arrested under a court warrant to facilitate investigations. Authorities confirmed that the driver underwent alcohol and drug tests, both of which returned negative results. The Paphos Traffic Department is continuing its investigation into the circumstances of the incident.
