Israeli air strikes in Gaza result in multiple Palestinian fatalities
An Israeli air strike on a police post in the Al-Tawam area of northern Gaza resulted in the deaths of at least five police officers and a teenager born in 2011. Palestinian authorities stated that two missiles hit the station, while the Israeli military described the target as Hamas militants. In a separate incident in Beit Lahiya, medical officials reported that a 13-year-old boy was killed by a drone strike, an action the Israeli military attributed to targeting individuals attempting to plant explosives. Since the October ceasefire, reports indicate that at least 880 to 890 Palestinians have been killed, including 42 police officers. Israel and Hamas continue to trade accusations regarding violations of the ceasefire, which remains fragile. Disagreements persist over the role of Hamas-affiliated police in future security plans and the militant group's refusal to disarm. The Israeli military maintains that it is conducting operations against militants, while health officials in Gaza highlight the rising toll of civilian and combatant casualties.
