Recent Israeli military strikes in Gaza result in casualties

On Saturday, an Israeli air strike in the Tawam area of northern Gaza killed at least five Hamas-affiliated police officers. The Gaza police directorate stated that two missiles struck their post, though the Israeli military did not immediately comment on this specific event. In a separate incident on Thursday, an Israeli drone strike in Beit Lahiya killed a 13-year-old boy. The Israeli military claimed the boy was near an individual attempting to plant an explosive device near the armistice line. Since the U.S.-brokered October ceasefire, Gaza health officials report that over 880 Palestinians have been killed, while the Israeli military reports four Israeli soldiers have died in militant attacks. Negotiations between Israel and Hamas remain deadlocked over the disarmament of Hamas and the integration of its 10,000 police officers into a new security force. Israel currently controls over half of the Gaza Strip, while Hamas maintains a coastal strip of territory.
