France bans Israeli Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir from entering the country
French Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barrot announced that Israel's Minister of National Security, Itamar Ben-Gvir, is banned from entering French territory effective immediately. The decision follows the circulation of video footage showing activists from the 'Global Sumud' Gaza aid flotilla being detained on their knees with their hands bound. The French government condemned these actions as unacceptable treatment of French and European citizens. Minister Barrot expressed his disapproval of the flotilla itself, citing diplomatic complications, but emphasized that the mistreatment of individuals by a public official is intolerable. Furthermore, Barrot stated that he is coordinating with his Italian counterpart to propose formal sanctions against Ben-Gvir to the European Union. These events have sparked international criticism regarding the conduct of Israeli security forces toward the activists involved in the maritime mission.
