Woman dies after pit bull attack in Florida

On Tuesday, shortly after 1:00 p.m., 50-year-old Jodi Cowan was fatally attacked by two pit bulls in Brevard County, Florida. Her husband, Donnell Smith, returned home to find her missing along with their small dog. Upon hearing her cries for help, Smith discovered his wife suffering from severe bite wounds while the dogs attempted to drag her. Smith used a knife to repel the animals while attempting to provide first aid. Cowan was airlifted to a local hospital but succumbed to her injuries shortly after. Smith noted that his wife was a dog lover who had been with him for 25 to 30 years. Authorities have documented the incident as a fatal canine attack.
