Kato Pyrgos-Orkontas and Kampos-Kato Pyrgos road updates following landslides

Landslides caused by recent heavy rainfall have impacted road infrastructure in the Kato Pyrgos area. On Saturday, May 23, the forest road between Kampos and Kato Pyrgos was closed to all traffic due to debris and rockfalls. Following intervention by the Department of Forests, the Kampos-Kato Pyrgos road was reopened for vehicle transit. Despite the reopening, maintenance work continues in specific segments where road restoration is not yet complete. Drivers are advised to exercise extreme caution when using this route. Separately, on the Kato Pyrgos-Orkontas road, additional landslides were reported around 10:30 a.m. local time. Local authorities and police crews are currently engaged in cleanup efforts at these specific points. Motorists are urged to maintain safe distances and use headlights while traveling through affected areas.
