Voter turnout for the 2026 parliamentary elections reaches 66.4 percent
The final voter turnout for the 2026 parliamentary elections in Cyprus was 66.4 percent, with 378,150 out of 569,182 registered voters casting their ballots. This represents an increase compared to the 63.9 percent turnout recorded in the 2021 parliamentary elections. Regarding the Maronite religious group, 3,175 people voted out of 4,624 registered electors, reaching a participation rate of 68.7 percent. At 13 polling stations abroad, 4,374 individuals voted out of 6,501 registered applications. Throughout the day, the Chief Returning Officer, Elikkos Ilias, reported that the process proceeded smoothly and in an orderly manner across all districts. Participation rates were consistently monitored, with intermediate reports indicating higher turnout compared to the 2021 elections at several milestones, including at 10:00 AM (12.8 percent), noon (32.3 percent), 3:00 PM (49.8 percent), and 5:00 PM (61.2 percent).
