Elderly voters from occupied areas participate in elections

Elderly residents from the occupied villages of Kormakitis, Karpasia, and Lysi traveled to polling stations in Nicosia, Larnaca, and Acheritou to vote in the legislative elections. Among the voters was 95-year-old Souzana Savva from Kormakitis, who continues to participate in all electoral processes despite mobility issues. Other notable voters included 89-year-old Katina Zonia and 93-year-old Georgia Piripitsi, who emphasized the importance of exercising their voting rights as a personal duty. Organized transport via buses was provided to assist elderly voters from Kormakitis, with the first group arriving at Kykkos A Lyceum around 10:30 a.m. The election included a specialized ballot for the representative of the Maronite religious group. Voters expressed that participating in the elections remains a significant personal commitment, with some citing a hope for eventual return to their homes. The event served as a meeting point for relatives, friends, and displaced persons to reconnect while fulfilling their civil duties.
