Parliamentary election results and initial analysis in Cyprus

Following the parliamentary elections on May 24, with 90% of votes counted, DISY secured 17 seats with 27.1% of the vote, while AKEL obtained 15 seats with 23.9%. Both major parties held celebrations following the results. Turkish Cypriot leader Tufan Erhurman contacted Annita Demetriou of DISY and Stefanos Stefanou of AKEL to congratulate them on their respective performances. Local voting results showed varying trends, including strong support for ELAM in its leader's home village of Politiko, where it received 40.9% of the vote. In Meniko, the birthplace of Fidias Panayiotou, the Amesa Dimokratia party led with 21.2%. Results were also recorded in 15 small polling stations with fewer than 80 voters across Cyprus, including locations like Kouka and Kedares, which completed counting rapidly due to low voter turnout. Authorities noted general reports of candidate messaging, but the overall process concluded without major disruptions.
