Petros Nakouzis elected as Maronite representative in parliament

Petros Nakouzis has been elected as the parliamentary representative for the Maronite religious group in Cyprus. The official results of the May 2026 election indicate that Nakouzis secured 1,606 votes, while Marios Mavridis received 1,519 votes. Out of 4,624 registered voters, 3,186 cast ballots, resulting in a participation rate of 68.90 percent. The election saw 3,125 valid votes, 34 invalid votes, and 27 blank ballots. Following this result, Marios Mavridis will conclude his 15-year tenure in parliament. The official declaration of the election results is scheduled for Monday, May 25, 2026, at 12:00 at the Nicosia Municipal Theatre.
