Cypriot Green Party fails to enter parliament following election results
Following the recent elections, the Ecologists Movement-Citizens' Cooperation failed to secure parliamentary representation, ending a 25-year tenure. Party President Stavros Papadouris accepted the results while expressing concern that approximately 16% of the electorate remains unrepresented in the new parliament. Papadouris noted the party's dissatisfaction with the outcome and reflected on the apparent disconnect between the movement's productivity and voter preferences. He also highlighted that despite polling expectations, several new political entities also failed to gain parliamentary seats. The party’s political office is scheduled to convene on Monday at 19:30 to discuss its future trajectory and prepare a proposal for the Central Committee. Meanwhile, other political parties including EDEK, DIPA, and Volt have yet to announce specific dates for their own internal meetings to assess the electoral performance. These parties are currently reviewing their post-election strategies and defining their paths forward.
