Violent clashes between football fans in Turin
On May 24, 2026, violent clashes occurred between Juventus and Torino supporters in the Piazza San Gabriele area of Gorizia before their scheduled Serie A match. As a result of the violence and confrontations with police, one Juventus fan was hospitalized with serious injuries, though his life is no longer in danger. Juventus supporters initially demanded that their team refuse to play in protest of the violence and the injuries sustained by their fellow fan. Despite these demands, the match proceeded because it was the final round of the Serie A season, which held critical implications for the standings. Due to the unrest and negotiations regarding safety, the kickoff was delayed by one hour, starting at 22:45 Greek time instead of 21:45. Juventus fans removed their banners from the visitors' stand in protest. The match ultimately took place despite the significant disruptions.
