Road accident kills at least 17 in northern Pakistan

At least 17 people were killed and 10 others were injured in a traffic accident in northern Pakistan. The incident occurred when a passenger bus traveling from the Swat district to Peshawar experienced a mechanical failure and pulled over to the side of the road. As passengers disembarked and waited nearby, a truck lost control and collided with the crowd and the stationary bus. Rescue official Bilal Ahmad Faizi confirmed the death toll and noted that more than 10 individuals were injured, with three in critical condition. Local hospital doctor Muhammad Ali confirmed the casualties. Many passengers were traveling home for the Eid holiday, a major religious observance in the Muslim calendar. Authorities are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the collision.
