Bronze bust of EOKA fighter stolen in Kissonerga

On the night of Sunday, May 24, an unknown perpetrator or perpetrators stole a bronze bust of the EOKA fighter Christos Kkelis in Kissonerga. The monument was located on the community's main road, opposite the local primary school, near the bust of another fighter, Georgios Michail. The theft was reported by Kleovoulos Papakostas, chairman of the Management Committee of EOKA Museums and Monuments in Paphos. According to Papakostas, this is the second incident of its kind in the Paphos region within a few months. He noted that previously, copper plates were stolen from a monument marking the start of the EOKA struggle at Aliki beach, and that damage has not yet been repaired. The Cyprus Police have launched an investigation into the incident and are searching for the suspects. Authorities are currently conducting examinations to identify those responsible for the act.
