Limassol officials meet to address traffic congestion

On Monday, Minister of Transport, Communications and Works Alexis Vafeades met with the mayors of Limassol, Polemidia, Amathounta, and Kourion to discuss long-term strategies for relieving traffic congestion in Limassol. The meeting, held at the Limassol Municipal Building, included representatives from relevant government departments to coordinate project prioritization, funding, and construction timelines. Minister Vafeades noted that approximately 10,000 new vehicles are registered in the city annually, necessitating constant road infrastructure upgrades. The government aims to have three sections of the northern bypass out for tender by the end of the year. The Ministry has requested a finalized list of priority projects within two to three weeks. These identified projects are intended to be integrated into the 2027 budget. The primary goal of this coordination is to ensure infrastructure projects are completed on schedule.
