Overview of parliamentary compensation in the Republic of Cyprus

Following parliamentary elections in Cyprus, data from the Treasury of Cyprus has revealed the compensation structure for members of the House of Representatives and religious representatives. The President of the House of Representatives receives a gross monthly salary of €8,715, which increases to €11,456 with additional benefits, resulting in a net income of approximately €7,460. Regular members of parliament and religious representatives receive a gross monthly base salary of €7,911, with a net income of about €5,466 after deductions. Annually, the gross compensation for a member of parliament can exceed €99,612 when accounting for all bonuses. These additional payments include a representative allowance of €20,503, a cost-of-living adjustment of €5,804, and €12,302 for secretarial services. Furthermore, deputies receive a separate annual travel allowance of €7,791. Payments to outgoing deputies cease upon the swearing-in of new members, at which point compensation for newly elected officials begins.
