Revised indictment filed in private prosecution of Thanasis Nicolaou case
The family of Thanasis Nicolaou has proceeded with a private criminal case concerning the investigation into his death. Prosecutors have filed a revised indictment against five former officials, including forensic pathologist Panikos Stavrianos, former Limassol police director Andreas Iatropoulos, former CID chief Nikos Sofokleous, former rural police chief Christakis Nathanael, and former Platres station chief Christakis Kapiliotis. The legal action follows years of disputes regarding the initial classification of the death as a suicide and subsequent forensic reassessments. The revised document was submitted following judicial instructions to clarify the charges. Defence lawyers have received the document for review before submitting their preliminary objections. The court has scheduled June 4 for the presentation of these objections and June 11 for further arguments on the matter.
