Series of fire incidents reported across Cyprus
Authorities in Cyprus are investigating several fire incidents that occurred over the weekend. A mini market in Astromeritis and a betting agency in Yermasoyia were damaged in separate incidents occurring shortly after midnight. In Yermasoyia, locals extinguished the blaze before it spread to the structure's walls and glass facade. Additionally, the Fire Service responded to 38 incidents in the last 24 hours, including a fire at an abandoned house at Heroes’ Square in Limassol on Sunday at 00:55, and a residential chimney fire in the community of Gourri at 06:56, which damaged a wooden roof. Separately, the Department of Forests contained a wildfire at the 'Kato Vouno' location in Pera Orinis on Saturday afternoon, which burned four decares of vegetation. Police and firefighting units are continuing investigations into the causes of the commercial and property fires. No injuries were reported in any of these incidents.
