Greek tennis players advance at Roland Garros
Maria Sakkari and Stefanos Tsitsipas have advanced to the next stages of the Roland Garros tournament. Sakkari defeated American qualifier Claire Liu in the second round with a score of 6-7(7), 6-3, 6-3, following a comeback from a 0-3 deficit in the second set. This victory, which lasted two hours and 40 minutes, marks her first appearance in the third round of the tournament since 2021. In the next round, Sakkari is scheduled to face Poland's Maja Chwalinska. Meanwhile, Stefanos Tsitsipas secured a spot in the second round after his opponent, Frenchman Alexandre Muller, retired due to injury while trailing 6-2, 3-0. The match lasted approximately 50 minutes before the retirement occurred. Tsitsipas is set to face Italian Matteo Arnaldi in his next match.
