EU foreign ministers hold informal Gymnich summit in Limassol

The informal Gymnich meeting of EU foreign ministers is taking place in Limassol, Cyprus, on May 27-28, 2026. Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha attended a welcome dinner on Wednesday. The discussions also addressed the implications of the closure of the Strait of Hormuz and the preservation of global shipping routes. Participants are utilizing the informal format to engage in strategic consultations rather than adopting formal decisions. A joint press conference is scheduled for the conclusion of the event on May 28.
