Explosion damages butcher shop in Paphos

An explosive device detonated outside a butcher shop in Paphos at approximately 3:30 a.m. on May 28, 2026. Police were alerted to the blast shortly after it occurred. Investigations conducted at the scene confirmed that the explosion was caused by an explosive mechanism placed near the facade of the premises. The building suffered extensive damage as a result of the detonation. Additionally, an adjacent property sustained collateral damage. Officers from the Paphos Criminal Investigation Department (TAE) arrived at the site to collect evidence. Further forensic examinations are scheduled to continue throughout the day. No injuries have been reported, and authorities are currently investigating the motive behind the incident.
