Cyprus police conduct countrywide enforcement operations
Cyprus police conducted overnight countrywide operations aimed at crime prevention and maintaining public order. Reports provide conflicting data regarding the scale of these operations, with most sources stating 13 people were arrested following checks on 586 vehicles, 730 passengers, and 40 premises, while one source reported 19 arrests following checks on 620 vehicles, 848 people, and 50 premises. Arrested individuals faced charges including illegal residence, employment, drug possession, carrying knives, and traffic violations. Traffic police issued between 252 and 286 citations, with speeding being a primary offense. Authorities also reported conducting hundreds of alcohol tests, resulting in a varying number of citations, and confirmed several positive roadside drug tests. Police seized between 8 and 17 vehicles during the operations. Officials announced that targeted patrols and enforcement activities will continue daily across the island.
