Cyprus police conduct island-wide preventive operations
Cypriot police carried out coordinated preventive operations across the island during two separate overnight campaigns. In the first instance, officers reported eight arrests for offenses including illegal employment, working as an unlicensed security guard, and traffic violations, following the inspection of 621 vehicles and 58 premises. A second report indicated nine arrests for more serious crimes, such as illegal firearm possession, shooting, drug possession, and theft, involving 370 vehicle checks and 45 premises inspections. Traffic enforcement statistics varied between the reports, with speeding violations ranging from 101 to 132 cases and alcohol-related offenses varying significantly between one and 31 reports. A total of 15 vehicles were immobilized across the combined operations. These police actions were described as part of ongoing daily efforts to enhance public safety and maintain order. The discrepancy in reported figures reflects two distinct operational cycles recorded by the authorities.
