Cyprus police conduct nationwide anti-crime operation

The Cyprus Police carried out organized patrol operations nationwide to enhance public safety and prevent criminal activity. Reports from various sources provided conflicting data on the scale and results of these interventions. One set of reports indicated that 851 vehicles were stopped, 1,130 individuals were checked, 44 premises were inspected, and 31 drivers tested positive for alcohol. Conversely, a second set of reports stated that 511 drivers and 131 passengers were checked, 41 premises were inspected, and only two alcohol-related violations were recorded. Seven arrests were made in both versions, though the specific charges cited differ between the sources; one version mentions illegal residency and vehicle theft, while the other mentions arson and failure to appear in court. Additionally, traffic citations ranged between 238 and 253 depending on the report, with speeding being a primary focus. Depending on the version, between four and nine vehicles were impounded during these inspections. Police officials stated that such operations are part of their ongoing strategy to maintain public order.
