Overnight police operations lead to five arrests and numerous traffic citations across Cyprus
Police in Cyprus conducted islandwide organized patrols throughout the night, targeting urban areas to prevent criminal activity. Officials confirmed the arrest of five individuals for offenses including illegal drug possession, illegal possession of property, and illegal residence in the Republic of Cyprus. During the operation, officers stopped and checked 449 vehicles and 106 passengers. Authorities issued 300 citations for traffic violations, including 101 cases of speeding, and impounded seven vehicles. An additional 12 traffic cases remain under investigation. Officers also performed 41 inspections of business premises, resulting in two formal reports, and conducted 80 alcohol tests, which yielded no violations. One driver tested positive during a preliminary drug test. These operations are part of a broader daily initiative to enhance public safety and maintain order.
