Police conduct countrywide operations resulting in multiple arrests and traffic citations
Cypriot police conducted widespread preventive operations overnight to combat crime and ensure public order. Reports from various sources provided inconsistent data, with some outlets citing 19 arrests, others 11, and some reporting 5 arrests for various offenses including drug possession, theft, assault, weapon carrying, and illegal stay. Police inspections varied significantly across reports, with vehicle checks ranging from 473 to 768 and checked persons from 638 to 987. Between 45 and 54 premises were inspected, leading to between 5 and 7 charges. Traffic enforcement resulted in 253 to 368 citations, with speeding violations ranging from 97 to 112 cases. Alcohol and drug testing results also differed, with positive alcohol results reported between 7 and 27, and drug test positives ranging from 1 to 24. A total of 6 to 17 vehicles were seized during the operations.
