Police conduct nationwide crime prevention and traffic enforcement operations
Cypriot police conducted nationwide organized patrols and operations to maintain public order and prevent crime. While initial reports mentioned three arrests for offenses such as drug possession and illegal stay, subsequent official data updated the figure to eleven arrests for various crimes, including theft, common assault, possession of weapons, and the execution of a European arrest warrant for financial crimes. Throughout the operations, officers stopped 473 vehicles and checked 674 individuals. Authorities reported 304 traffic violations, including 84 instances of speeding. Additionally, officers performed 53 alcohol tests and two narcotics tests, both resulting in positive outcomes. Twenty-nine business premises were inspected, leading to three complaints. Seven vehicles were impounded during the enforcement. A separate targeted operation in the Polis Chrysochous area on June 11 resulted in 99 traffic complaints and five impounded vehicles.
