Police conduct nationwide crime prevention operations
Cypriot police carried out coordinated nationwide operations to prevent criminal activity and ensure public order. Reports from various sources regarding the scale of the operations show discrepancies, with figures for arrests ranging from 6 to 12. Reported offenses include illegal residency, drug possession, domestic violence, burglary, theft, carrying knives, and assault. Thousands of vehicles and hundreds of individuals were stopped and inspected across urban areas. Traffic authorities recorded hundreds of citations, primarily for speeding, as well as several instances of driving under the influence of alcohol and narcotics. Additionally, dozens of business establishments were inspected, leading to several reported violations. Authorities also impounded multiple vehicles during these checks as part of their ongoing crime suppression strategy.
