Police conduct nationwide operations in Cyprus
Cypriot police conducted widespread overnight preventive operations across the country to ensure public order and prevent criminal activity. Reports on the exact number of arrests vary, with some sources reporting three arrests for offenses including possession of burglary tools, illegal residency, and drunk driving, while other reports specify six arrests linked to drug possession, domestic violence, and illegal stay. During the operations, police stopped and inspected between 358 and 576 vehicles and checked between 179 and 440 individuals. Officials conducted 35 to 46 inspections of premises, resulting in three to five citations. Traffic enforcement measures saw 234 to 262 traffic violations reported, with 13 to 14 vehicles seized. Authorities also issued citations for 38 to 87 speeding violations and five to 12 cases of driving under the influence of alcohol. Additionally, two suspected cases of driving under the influence of drugs were identified through preliminary testing.
