Police conduct nationwide security operations across Cyprus
Overnight, the Cyprus Police conducted a series of targeted preventive operations across the country to combat crime and ensure public order. Officers carried out 64 inspections of business premises, resulting in nine reports of illegal activity. Authorities checked 728 drivers and 305 passengers, issuing 227 traffic complaints plus 13 ongoing investigations. Of the traffic violations, 105 were related to speeding. Additionally, 314 breathalyser tests were conducted, leading to 19 reports, while two drivers tested positive for drugs. Police reported 10 arrests for various offenses including drug possession, illegal residence, and begging. Fifteen vehicles were impounded during these checks. Some earlier reports provided conflicting figures, citing 679 vehicles checked, 45 premises inspected, and 358 traffic complaints, but the latest official data indicates the higher numbers listed here.
