Cyprus police conduct nationwide security operations resulting in eight arrests

Cypriot police conducted a series of organized patrols and inspections across the country overnight to enhance public order and security. During these operations, authorities arrested eight individuals for offenses including illegal stay in the Republic of Cyprus, possession of offensive weapons, assault causing bodily harm, and drug possession. Police officers stopped 307 vehicles and screened 422 drivers and passengers. Additionally, 31 inspections of commercial premises were carried out, resulting in 7 reported violations. Traffic enforcement led to 196 citations, with 82 cases involving speeding. Breathalyzer tests on 86 drivers identified six individuals under the influence, while drug tests on three drivers resulted in two positive cases. Two vehicles were impounded during the night's activities.
