Assistant to Matthew Perry sentenced for actor's death
Kenneth Iwamasa, the 60-year-old personal assistant of Matthew Perry, was sentenced by a Los Angeles court to three years and five months in prison. Iwamasa pleaded guilty in August 2024 to conspiracy to distribute ketamine resulting in death. Prosecutors stated that Iwamasa, who lacked medical training, worked with two doctors to supply the actor with over $50,000 worth of ketamine in the weeks leading up to his death in October 2023. Perry was found deceased in his jacuzzi due to acute effects of the sedative. In addition to the prison term, Iwamasa received two years of supervised release and was ordered to pay a $10,000 fine. He is the fifth person to be sentenced in this case. During the proceedings, the judge noted Iwamasa's awareness of Perry's struggle with addiction and the concealment of evidence after the incident. Iwamasa expressed deep remorse for his illegal actions during his testimony.
