Recent football transfers and recruitment updates in Cyprus
Stavros Gavriel has officially signed with Portuguese club CD Nacional Madeira until 2029, following his departure from Zulte Waregem and interest from APOEL. Meanwhile, AEK Larnaca is actively shaping its squad for the 2026-27 season under technical director Xavi Roca. The club announced an agreement in principle with 29-year-old Slovenian midfielder Jan Repas, who previously played under AEK coach Mauro Camoranesi at Maribor. Repas has committed to a two-year deal and is expected to undergo medical examinations upon his arrival. Additionally, AEK is in advanced negotiations with 33-year-old Dutch defender Mike van der Hoorn to strengthen its back line. Van der Hoorn, formerly of Utrecht, Ajax, Swansea, and Arminia Bielefeld, is being targeted for his experience and physical presence. AEK has already secured seven new signings as part of its ongoing roster overhaul following several departures.
