Heat dome causes at least 11 deaths across Europe
A high-pressure system known as a heat dome is currently affecting large parts of Europe, resulting in at least 11 deaths and leaving others in critical condition. Meteorologist Kleanthis Nikolaidis explained that the Azores anticyclone has expanded from the Atlantic across the Iberian Peninsula, France, Germany, and is moving toward England and Scandinavia. The system creates high temperatures by compressing air in the lower atmosphere, causing extreme weather conditions across these regions. Orange warnings have been issued in several affected areas due to the dangerous heat. While northern and central Europe remain under the influence of this phenomenon, Cyprus is not expected to be affected. However, concerns remain regarding the long-term impact of El Nino and potential risks of drought in the Mediterranean region. Meteorologists continue to monitor the structure of the atmosphere as the system persists.
