British base police increase patrols for upcoming public holiday

The British Bases (BB) Police in Cyprus have issued a warning for motorists and beachgoers ahead of the upcoming three-day weekend and the public holiday this Monday. Deputy Assistant Chief Constable of Dhekelia, Markos Petrou, announced that police patrols will be significantly increased in both the Eastern and Western Sovereign Base Areas. The measures are intended to manage heavy traffic on highways and reduce the risk of road accidents. Authorities also highlighted an increased threat of opportunistic thefts in coastal areas. Visitors are advised not to bring valuables to the beach, or alternatively, to secure them inside their vehicles. Police urged the public to remain vigilant regarding their personal belongings while swimming. These measures aim to ensure public safety throughout the busy holiday period.
