Coach Apostolos Mantzios announces national team squad for upcoming friendlies
National team coach Apostolos Mantzios held a press conference prior to the team's training session at Archangelos to discuss the squad selection for upcoming friendly matches against Slovenia and Liechtenstein. Mantzios emphasized that player selection is based on individual performance and current needs, rather than the size of the club the player represents. The coach acknowledged the difficulty of the period, noting that players are physically fatigued at the end of the season, but highlighted that this training camp provides valuable time to test new tactical elements ahead of official competitions. For the first time, George Naoum and Andreas Christou have been called up to the senior team, with the coach explaining he had originally planned their inclusion for March before they suffered injuries. Training has officially commenced without Malekkidis, Siikkis, and Michael, who are scheduled to join the squad following the Coca-Cola Cup final. Mantzios stated that while he respects public debate regarding the squad, it is impossible to include every candidate in every call-up.
