Fencing installed at Sea Caves in Cape Greco to prevent dangerous diving

The Department of Forests has installed temporary fencing at the Sea Caves in Cape Greco National Forest Park. This measure aims to restrict public access to prevent highly dangerous diving activities, which frequently require emergency responses from the Joint Rescue Coordination Centre. Authorities noted that these activities occur primarily during the summer months and have resulted in numerous injuries over the years. Beyond physical safety concerns for the public and rescue personnel, the fencing also seeks to protect the area's geomorphological formations, which have shown signs of instability. Signs have been posted in the area instructing the public to comply with safety regulations. Officials hope these measures will mitigate the risk of fatal accidents in the future.
