Netanyahu orders expansion of Israeli military control in Gaza Strip to 70%

Speaking at the Ein Prat Leadership Academy, reported by Channel 12, Netanyahu confirmed that the military currently holds 60% of the territory. When asked about potential total control of the region by an attendee, the Prime Minister did not reject the possibility, stating that the current focus is on reaching the 70% threshold first. This statement aligns with earlier reports acknowledging the existing 60% control, a figure exceeding previous post-ceasefire expectations. In March, Israeli maps indicated a buffer zone extending beyond the 53% of territory held following an October ceasefire mediated by the United States. This expansion strategy effectively restricts access to approximately two-thirds of the Gaza Strip's total land area. The declaration clarifies that the military intends to extend its territorial footprint beyond established post-ceasefire lines.
