Cyprus selects student team for the 2026 International Economics Olympiad
The Department of Finance, Accounting, and Management Science at the Cyprus University of Technology (TEPAK) has announced the selection of five students to represent Cyprus at the International Economics Olympiad (IEO) 2026. The competition is scheduled to take place in Shenzhen, China, from July 12 to 20, 2026. A total of 111 students from public and private schools across Cyprus participated in the three-phase selection process. The first round, titled 'The Intuition Challenge,' was held on January 31, 2026, at the Cyprus University of Technology. This initial round utilized multiple-choice questions to identify 25 students with the strongest aptitude for economic reasoning and critical analysis. These 25 candidates subsequently entered a preparatory phase consisting of workshops and independent study based on the official IEO curriculum. The final team of five was selected after completing the rigorous selection stages involving months of evaluation and guidance.
