Religious calendar observations for May 28 and 29

On May 29, the Greek Orthodox calendar commemorates Saint Theodosia the Virgin, Saint Olvianus, and Saint Ypomoni. Saint Theodosia, originally from Tyre, was reportedly martyred under the ruler Urbanus for her refusal to renounce Christianity. Historical accounts suggest she was subjected to torture before being cast into the sea. Separately, on May 28, the church commemorates the martyrs Crescens, Paul, and Dioscorides. These figures were active in Rome during the reign of Emperor Gordian III in 244 AD. According to tradition, they were arrested for proselytizing while imprisoned and were subsequently executed by being cast into a furnace.
