Chinese film week to be held in Cyprus

From June 10 to 15, 2026, the Embassy of China in Cyprus, the China Film Administration, and the Deputy Ministry of Culture of Cyprus will host a Chinese Film Week. The event celebrates the 55th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Cyprus and the United Nations International Day for Dialogue among Civilizations. The opening ceremony is scheduled for June 10 at the Nicosia Municipal Theatre, where the film The Sound of Shanghai by Cypriot director Marios Joannou Elia will premiere. Earlier that day, the Nicosia Municipal Theatre will host a youth screening of the animated film Boonie Bears: The Hidden Protector. An area for cultural exchange, supported by the Confucius Institute at the University of Cyprus, will also be available at the venue. On June 11, the Pantheon Theatre in Nicosia will screen the film A Table for Two, which focuses on the lives of contemporary Chinese youth. Guests from the political, business, academic, and cultural sectors are expected to attend the opening events.
