Ibrahima Konate to leave Liverpool as a free agent
Ibrahima Konate will depart from Liverpool this summer after five years at the club. Negotiations regarding a contract extension reached a stalemate, despite reports in April suggesting a positive outcome. Journalist Fabrizio Romano confirmed that the 27-year-old French central defender will leave the Anfield side as a free agent. Konate joined Liverpool from RB Leipzig in the summer of 2021. Over his tenure, he made 183 appearances across all competitions, recording 7 goals and 4 assists. His trophy cabinet with the team includes one Premier League title, one FA Cup, one Community Shield, and two Carabao Cups. This departure follows the exits of Mohamed Salah and Andrew Robertson.
