Transport Minister Alexis Vafeades to discuss EU air passenger rights in Brussels

Cyprus Minister of Transport, Communications and Works, Alexis Vafeades, will travel to Brussels on Monday, June 1, to participate in the final legislative discussions regarding EU air passenger rights. The meetings will involve negotiations between the European Parliament, the European Commission, and the Council of the EU within a conciliation committee. A central point of contention is the compensation threshold for flight delays. The EU Council proposes raising the current three-hour delay threshold for compensation to four to six hours. Conversely, the European Parliament strongly opposes this proposed rollback. The outcome of these discussions will determine the updated regulations for air passenger protections across member states. Minister Vafeades is scheduled to return to Cyprus on Wednesday, June 3.
