ELAM vice president Michalis Michail resigns

Michalis Michail has formally resigned from his position as vice president of the ELAM party. The resignation was announced via social media just days after the recent parliamentary elections. Michail, who served the party for 13 years, emphasized that he is leaving as a friend without bitterness. During the recent election, he ran as a candidate in the Paphos district, where he secured the top spot on the party ballot but did not win a seat as the party failed to gain representation in that region. ELAM leadership stated that the position will remain vacant until the party's upcoming electoral congress scheduled for the autumn. The party's Political Council is expected to officially ratify this decision in the coming days. Currently, ELAM is focused on the election of the new Speaker of the House, with party leader Christos Christou expected to be announced as their candidate. The party has publicly stated it will not support Annita Dimitriou or any candidate from AKEL for the speakership.
