Nicolas Tsardellis elected chair of the CCBE finance committee

Nicolas Tsardellis, vice president of the Cyprus Bar Association, was elected as the chairman of the finance committee of the Council of Bars and Law Societies of Europe (CCBE). The election took place during the CCBE plenary meeting held in Ljubljana, Slovenia, between May 27 and May 29, 2026. According to the Cyprus Bar Association, this marks the first time a representative from Cyprus has held this specific position within the organization. The finance committee is notably the only CCBE committee where the chairperson is directly elected by the delegations of member bar associations rather than appointed. During the same plenary session, attendees also discussed and approved various guidelines and positions concerning the European legal community. The CCBE acts as a representative platform for law societies to collaborate on European legislation, policy, and the sharing of professional expertise. The Cyprus Bar Association characterized the election as an important development for the national legal community.
