Nicolas Otamendi joins River Plate
Argentine defender Nicolas Otamendi has officially signed a 1.5-year contract with the Argentine club River Plate. The transfer follows the conclusion of his six-year tenure with the Portuguese club Benfica. The 38-year-old player began his professional career at Velez Sarsfield in 2007 and has since played for Porto, Valencia, Atletico Mineiro, Manchester City, and Benfica. During his final season with Benfica, Otamendi made 49 appearances, contributing three goals and four assists. Transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano confirmed the deal prior to the official announcement by the club. This move marks the seventh team in the defender's professional career.
