Makarios Drousiotis comments on Volt election results
Following the elections held on May 24, Volt candidate Makarios Drousiotis acknowledged that his party failed to secure parliamentary representation. Drousiotis stated that the party received 11,500 votes out of an electorate of 570,000. He rejected claims that his public involvement in the 'Santi' case harmed the party's electoral performance. Instead, he argued that his interventions helped the party, noting that polling figures rose from 2% to more than double after his publications. Drousiotis attributed the final electoral failure to intense pressure from major political party mechanisms during the final days of the campaign. He also criticized segments of the media, accusing them of bias and hypocrisy regarding his candidacy and the political agenda of former President Nicos Anastasiades.
