Health Insurance Organization to take over GeSY IT system management

The Health Insurance Organization (HIO) will take full control of the governance and coordination of the GeSY IT system and its related business processes starting June 1, 2026. This transition follows the expiration of the current contract with NCR (Cyprus) Ltd on May 31, 2026. The HIO is exercising its contractual right to assume ownership and management of the project to ensure direct operational control. By eliminating the role of a single central coordinator, the HIO aims to work directly with service providers and reduce dependency on a single entity. The organization characterizes this shift as a significant operational milestone for the efficiency of the national health system. To ensure continuity, existing service providers will continue their operations without any immediate changes to their service delivery methods. The former contractor, NCR (Cyprus) Ltd, will remain a service provider after the contract change. The HIO stated that this restructuring is intended to provide more direct management of future system development.
