Andoni Iraola appointed as the new Liverpool manager

Liverpool Football Club has officially announced the appointment of Andoni Iraola as their new head coach to succeed Arne Slot. The 43-year-old Basque manager has signed a contract lasting until the summer of 2028. Prior to this, Iraola spent three successful years at Bournemouth, guiding them to a historic 6th-place finish in the Premier League and their first-ever European qualification for the Europa League. His coaching career previously included stints at AEK Larnaca, Mirandes, and Rayo Vallecano. The appointment comes following a period of negotiation led by Liverpool sporting director Richard Hughes. Reports indicate that Iraola will be supported by a technical staff including Pablo de la Torre, Tommy Elphick, Shaun Cooper, and Tom Webber. While initial reports highlighted discussions regarding his title and transfer authority, the club confirmed the deal on June 4, 2026.
