Mother and partner remanded in custody for abuse of a three-year-old in Crete

A 25-year-old woman and her 27-year-old partner have been remanded in custody following a joint decision by the prosecutor and investigator in Crete. The suspects face charges of attempted murder and grievous bodily harm regarding the abuse of the woman's three-year-old daughter. The child was hospitalized in critical condition and continues to receive treatment in the pediatric intensive care unit of PAGNI Hospital in Heraklion. According to reports, the defendants failed to provide sufficient explanations for the circumstances surrounding the child's severe injuries. The girl has been extubated but remains in intensive care. Meanwhile, the victim's siblings have been placed in the care of Chania Hospital. The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
